Free-ish Since 1862 | Emancipation Day Mini Doc

To commemorate DC’s Emancipation Day Parade & Concert, we created “Free-ish Since 1862”—an empowering short-form documentary that blends premium event visuals, live sound, and an intimate interview with an attendee reflecting on the meaning of freedom.

Shot and produced independently, this piece is a true example of boots-on-the-ground storytelling. From marching bands and musical performances to moments of reflection, it captures the cultural heartbeat of the celebration. It’s proof that a small crew with strong vision (in this case: just one) can still tell stories that matter.
